We can send our expedition anywhere on the map except for bodies of water and deep within mountain ranges(we have a wagon for our goods). ![]() Our three big choices at the start of the game are where to settle, and who/what to bring with us. Generating from a random seed, we get Zusposstrasp Suttu, the Momentous Planet of Prophecy. This will effect what possibilities we have to choose from, terrain wise, as well as determine proximity/trade to other civilisations. Though we only require a small tract of land on which to build, our first step is to create the entire world. We'll be playing in Dwarf Fortress Mode, in which seven dwarves depart from civilization with express purpose of creating a new Fortress somewhere else in the world. If you can live with the graphics, then you have something akin to the Sims(on steroids) crossed with Dungeon Keeper(on crack). Though the learning curve can sometimes appear to be a learning cliff-face at the start, this game rewards diligent study with months of addictive fun. ![]() In-depth game information(including spoilers) can be found at the Dwarf Fortress Wiki. Dwarf Fortress is a computer game already relatively infamous for its undeniable complexity and rogue-like ASCII graphics.
